I've been working and working.

Mostly on my drawing and coloring skills.

I'm trying to improve on my use of color techniques and combinations.

I find it's a lot more appealing to the eye if the colors aren't clashing (unless, of course, that's the desired outcome) and the general look of a piece is thought through.

I try to let the freestyle work get more time than the planned and purposeful work. Mastering the habit of making art just to make art is my goal. I recently started a new job in addition to my "weekend" job that allows me a moderate amount of free time.

Though I prefer to spend it on more frivolous activities I do spend a small amount adding to the largest freestyle piece I've ever attempted. It's a big cardboard colored poster paper and I plan on filling it up over time. I enjoy being able to add small details because of the size. The freedom is nice too.

Unlike with my "portraits", the freestyle art allows me to either see what I want to draw or let the paper guide me. I'm slowly but surely getting into the idea and hopefully execution of making art part of my life instead of just something I'm good at.
